For Singapore employers, starting with hiring

Every decision, considered.

When you run a small company, you're usually the one doing the hiring, on top of everything else. Considered explains what MOM and TAFEP expect in plain English, and keeps a quick record of why you picked who you picked. Free to use. S$9 a month when you need more.

Meet Mei, Sam and Anil

Small business owners with the kind of hiring questions you've probably had too.

They're made up, but their situations aren't. These are the questions that come up again and again for small employers.

Mei

Runs a 14-person bakery in Tiong Bahru

Mei wants a pastry chef in before the Christmas rush. The best CV she's had is from a chef in KL, who'd need an Employment Pass.

"Do I have to advertise first? Can I make her an offer now?"

So, does she?

Yes. Because she has 14 staff (the cut-off is 10), the job has to go up on MyCareersFuture for at least 14 days in a row first. She has to look at everyone who applies, and she can't make an offer until those 14 days are over.

Sam

Runs a 32-person logistics firm in Tuas

Sam needs an operations coordinator. He typed the ad on his phone between deliveries and wants it on LinkedIn and JobStreet tonight.

"Is there anything in here I'm not allowed to say?"

Is there?

A few things. Ads can't ask for things like age or marital status unless the job really needs it, and you can only ask for a language if the work needs it. MyCareersFuture flags wording like this for ads posted there. LinkedIn and JobStreet won't. And with 32 staff, Sam will need a written grievance procedure once the Workplace Fairness Act kicks in at the end of 2027.

Operations Coordinator. Join our young and energetic team! Must be single. Must be able to work under pressure and handle 30 drivers. Salary S$3,000 to S$7,000.

  • 1young and energetic → "a fast-moving team". Words about age put older applicants off.
  • 2Must be single → say the real need, such as "able to do night shifts twice a week", if that's the reason.
  • 3The top of the range is more than twice the bottom. Narrow it, for example S$3,500 to S$5,500.

works for LinkedIn and JobStreet ads too

Anil

Runs a 20-person IT support company in Ubi

Three weeks after Anil hired a support engineer, one of the people he turned down emails him: "Why wasn't I picked? Was it my age?"

"I know I was fair. How do I show it?"

How does he?

With notes he made at the time. If he wrote down what the job needed before the CVs came in, and jotted a reason for each person on the day, that holds up far better than trying to remember it all weeks later.

Based on TAFEP's Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices. Last checked 3 November 2026.

Our promise on data

Your people's data is yours. We will never sell it.

We're building Considered to make hiring fairer, and you can't do that while making money off people's personal details. So we won't, and we're putting it in our terms.

  • We never sell personal data. Not to recruiters, advertisers, data brokers or anyone else, at any price.
  • We only use it to do what you asked.Keep your record, redact a CV, send you a reminder.
  • We never train AI on it.Not candidate CVs, not your hiring records, not for anyone.
  • We never share it with other companies. No candidate pools, talent databases or "insights" from your hiring.
  • We don't read it.Any access, even for support you asked for, is logged and shown to you.
  • It leaves when you do.Export everything any time. Close your account and we delete it.
  • We tell you if anything goes wrong.Promptly, and with what we're doing about it.
Why I'm building Considered

A lot of hiring in Singapore happens in small companies, by owners and managers who want to get it right. Most of them don't have an HR team, or the time to read through five government websites to find the one rule they need.

So I'm putting the rules in one place, in plain English, with a record you can keep in a minute. And the people in those records, your candidates and your team, will never be what we sell.
